Today, technology is the engine that drives our economy. Our world is increasingly dependent on technology for everything from communication to space exploration and medicine. Students with a strong understanding of technology and its applications will have an edge in their academic and professional careers. The Technology and Learning Fund supports programs that promote the use of emerging technologies and provides experiences that will prepare students for the 21st Century work place.
One example of a project made possible by a VFEE grant from the Technology and Learning Fund is Verona High School's purchase of an Adobe Master Collection Site License during the 2007-2008 school year. This software enabled students for the first time to take courses in graphic arts, web design, programming and video communications. Multi-media projects in English, mathematics, science and languages are now also possible. VFEE also helped equip the high school with state-of-the-art computer-aided design (CAD) software, making it possible for students to master the fundamentals of engineering and architecture design.
